Frequently Asked Questions

What is the REACH Lab?

REACH stands for Rural Equity and Access in Community Health. We’re a research and advocacy lab at Missouri State University focused on community-driven projects that address health access, infrastructure, and equity in rural communities.

Who can get involved?

Anyone with a connection to rural Missouri is welcome to get involved—especially residents, parents, youth, educators, first responders, health professionals, students, and community leaders. Whether you live in a rural area or frequently visit, your perspective matters.

What is the Community Advisory Board?

The CAB is a group of community members who help guide REACH Lab projects from start to finish. CAB members provide local insight, shape research questions, co-design solutions, and ensure our work is rooted in community values and lived experience.

Do I need research experience to join?

No experience is needed! We value real-world knowledge just as much as academic expertise. If you care about health and safety in your community, we want to hear from you.

Can students work with REACH Lab?

Absolutely. We welcome undergraduate and graduate students who are passionate about public health, health equity, policy, or rural research. Student roles may include data collection, event planning, qualitative analysis, and more.
